Welcome to my blog! I am Melissa and my husband and I have been married since October 10, 2009. We bought our "forever home" in October of 2008 and we love our old 100 year old home and all of the charm it offers. We are passionate about DYI projects and we've got a few under our belts with this house so far. With the start of the new year we are excited to extend our family:) Stop by from time to time to watch us grow:)

Santino, excited to be working on DEMO!!:)

Me, even more excited to be working on DEMO:)

This bathroom demo kicked our butts this weekend! So much so, I slept at my mom and dads and Santino slept in past his alarm going off this morning! If you ever are in need of a long weekend, do a project around the house, it will surely be the longest weekend of your life!!! But, we got it all out and filled the dumpster, throwing in the last toilet Sunday evening. We didn't run across anything we weren't surprised to find, so that's a plus, but I am exhausted and think I will sleep like a baby tonight!!! I must say, I am excited to be back at work even for a Monday!!!

Are you still following??

I don't think anyone actually ready this blag, but I sure feel good when I get to post and talk about myself and about our projects:)
I apologize it's been over two months for this post to come, but things have been so busy lately it's nuts!
In the beginning of October we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary and we travelled east to Galena, IL and the Dubuque,IA area around the Mississippi. It is so beautiful around this time of year! I have started a quilting class on Mondays for beginners quilting*we're talking I didn't even know how to use a sewing machine!!* It's just been a very busy couple of weeks for us and we certainly don't excpect for it to slow down one bit with this bathroom remodel coming near!
We've continued to buy buy buy for these bathrooms and we are just 10 days away from the BIG demo and the start of the BIGGEST project we've ever taken on! The dumpster arrives on 28Oct!! For the most part, I would say we are good to go with this and all of the supplies we will need. There are a few items we've had to put on hold until we can get into the walls and see exactly how much of wire we will need and so on. We are now feeling a bit of mixed emotions about this remodel job, mainly because these are our ONLY bathrooms in the house and we HAVE to get someplace with this project....we aren't rushing, but we know we're going to be needing our toilet like....oh...every few hours! I think the scary thing is that it's happening in November and we live in Iowa, which means it's going to be cold and we're going to have the radiators disconnected in order to move the one around in the bathroom. So I think we're scared of freezing and not being able to pee in our own house!:) I know it will all work out in the end, and if our marriage can survive this, we can handle anything:)
Please PLEASE check back in about two weeks for photos of the BEFORE and the DEMO stages!

We can't wait to share these with you all!!!

Have a great rest of the week.

Progress.

A few more pics to share as we keep getting goodies in the mail for our bathroom remodel!:)

Those beauties came in the mail and made us very happy campers last week and I wanted to share with you:)

This last weekend Santino was determined to drag the old radiator outside into the garage and sandblast the old paint off of the thing...but it wasn't quite all it was supposed to be. Needless to say, our little air compressor didn't quite hold up to the needs of blasting sand through the gun and chipping away 100 yr old paint on our radiator. On to plan B, lug the heavy thing out somewhere to have it professionally sandblasted. Oh joy, another 50-100$ gone! The hubby and I are on vacation next week and plan on getting some of the last minute bathroom items purchased/finished and get this bathroom remodel goin... The bathtub is ordered and it scheduled to be here next Tuesday!!! Can't wait.

Can't wait to show you all!

Project weekend...

I wanted to give you guys a little peek into our busy project filled weekend!!! Check out the photos below!!

So here is my project for the weekend!! We bought this buffer/dresser from someone on Craigslist locally and it just needed a little TLC! Take a look at what I decided to do:)

Now on to Santinos project of the weekend!! Turning our other Craigslist antique dresser find into a vanity for our bathroom.

It fits!!

Now on to the drawers!!:)

As you can tell we had a crazy weekend full of projects and it's only 12:15PM on Sunday!! We've got the whole day to go!!:)

Have a wonderful day!

TGI...almost Friday!!

Hello all!! This has been a heck of a week and I am defiantly ready for a weekend full of nothing:) We have no plans this weekend and it's going to be wonderful!
So our last post focused on our 2nd floor bathroom remodel inspiration and I feel bad for leaving out our main floor bathroom. So, enjoy:)

This is our current tile we've already laid in our kitchen/hall/and bathroom last year.

How amazing is this can light trim? It will match what we are shooting for in the bathroom and it will hide the not too pretty recessed light exhaust fan. As you can tell, this bathroom is almost complete opposite of the 2nd floor bathroom! This is a much warmer bathroom with earth tones and beautiful oil rubbed bronze finishes.

What do you think? We've counting down the days until this huge project! But we're so ready to dig our heels in:) And to stop emptying our pocketbooks week after week on bathroom items!!!
